I Know Him, I Know Him: George Newbern

NewbernGeorgeLisa Scottoline’s latest thriller, Every Fifteen Minutes, brings you into the grip of a true sociopath and shows you how, in the quest to survive such ruthlessness, every minute counts.

The voice you hear on the audiobook is that of George Newbern. That’s him pictured in this post. Look familiar? You may know him as the adorable Bryan MacKenzie from the Father of the Bride movies. I regularly watch these classics on TV where they play on repeat most weekends. More recently, Newbern has appeared regularly in the TV show Scandal where he plays B613 spy Charlie. We can only imagine playing this surprisingly likable yet cold-hearted killer prepared him for Scottoline’s newest suspenseful listen.

Even if you don’t recognize his face, avid audiobook fans may recognize his voice. Newbern has narrated dozens of audiobooks including Harlan Coben’s The Stranger, Carl Hiaasen’s Sick Puppy, and Becoming Steve Jobs by Brent Schlender and Rick Tetzeli.

Learn more about Newbern’s career in this great Buzzfeed post (complete with Father of the Bride gifs, yes!) and then listen to an excerpt of Every Fifteen Minutes here.
